God, Gender and Justice: Exploring the Connections Between Spirituality, Politics, and Sexuality
Join Nehirim and the Bet Alef Learning Institute (BALI) in Seattle for a Shabbat of learning, discussion, and conversation about the nexus between spirituality, sexuality, and social justice. Teachers include Nehirim’s Jay Michaelson, Bet Alef’s Rabbi Olivier BenHaim, and, via Skype, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi.

1030am-12pm - Torah study and discussion of teachings on sexuality and social justice; why progressive religious people should support GLBT rights because of their religion, not despite it.
12pm - Lunch
1pm - Jay Michaelson, Why GLBT Equality is Everybody’s Equality: The Deeper Meaning of “Gay Rights”
330pm-530pm - Discussion of integral spirituality and sexuality, featuring Terri O’Fallon, Pacific Integral, Joe Perez (Soulfully Gay), Rabbi Olivier, and Jay Michaelson
